American Humanics Inc.

American Humanics (AH) is a national alliance of colleges, universities, and nonprofits; their mission is to educate, prepare, and certify professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations. American Humanics partners with 20 national nonprofit oganizations, which offer interships to AH students. These organizations helped define and establish the competencies, and also actively recruit certified students.

Over 70 universities currently offer the American Humanics Certificate.

American Humanics National Certification in Nonprofit Management

The certificate is based on a set of competencies that are classified either as knowledge or skill. Competencies may be achieved through volunteering, coursework, a required internship, on-the-job activities, or through student association activities. Some of the required competencies include: nonprofit board and committee development, fundraising principles and practices, program planning, human resource development, and supervision.
